Warum machen wir das?

Ist es denn so wichtig, die Wale vor dem Aussterben zu retten?
Ja ist es!!! Denn davon abgesehen, daß die Erdöl- und Chemischen Industrien Wale als Ressource längst abgelöst haben, blüht der kommerzielle Walfang unter dem Deckmantel der Forschung und Tradition wieder vermehrt auf, um auf illegalem Weg den asiatischen 'Feinschmeckern' die Teller zu füllen.

Wale existieren in ihrer heutigen Form seit ca. 25 Millionen Jahren und tragen seither das globale Gleichgewicht des Ökosystems mit. Die Entwicklung des naturmanipulierenden Menschen startete erst vor 2 Millionen Jahren. Wenn wir die Wale sterben lassen, rauben wir uns selbst die Zukunft. Denn Wale - insbesondere die Bartenwale - kontrollieren durch ihre Ernährung das Wachstum des Planktons.

Why are we doing this?

Is it really that necessary to save the whales from extermination?
Yes it is!!! Apart from the fact that the oil- and chemical-industries replaced the whales from being resource a long time ago, commercial whaling is flourishing again under the guise of research and tradition to fill on illegal ways the plates of asian 'gourmets'.

Whales have been existing in their present form since approximately 25 million years and have been supporting the global balance of the ecosystem. The evolution of the nature-manipulating mankind started just about 2 million years ago. If we let the whales die, we would steel our own future. Because the whales - especially the baleen whales - do control the growth of plankton through their nutrition.

Sollte es keine Wale mehr geben, kann unkontrolliertes Planktonwuchern die Temperatur der Weltmeere erhöhen, den eigenen Lebensraum zu sehr erhitzen und das klimatische Gleichgewicht der Meere zerstören. Die Zerstörung der Nahrungskette und des Ökosystems würde schlußendlich auch uns betreffen.

Wale zu schützen, heißt nicht nur, ein paar wenige Tiere retten zu wollen. Wale zu schützen, heißt auch, die Überfischung, die Umweltbelastungen in den Meeren, das ökologische Gleichgewicht ins Lot zu bringen. Weitsichtig heißt erfolgreicher Walschutz auch der Schutz des menschlichen Lebensraums.

Gesetze gegen den Walfang existieren nur auf dem Papier. Der einzige Weg, diese Säugetiere vor der Auslöschung zu bewahren, ist, der Weltöffentlichkeit die Augen zu öffnen.

If there weren't any whales anymore, the uncontrolled plankton-proliferation could raise the temperature of the oceans, overheat its own habitat and destroy the climatic balance of the oceans. In conclusion the destruction of the food chain and the ecosystem would concern us.

Protecting whales doesn't only mean to save a few animals. Protecting whales even means, to put the overfishing, the pollution of the oceans, the ecological balance right. Successful whale-protection means far-sighted to save the human habitat.

Laws against whaling only exist on paper. The only way to save these mammals from extinction is, to open the gerneral public's eyes.
