Bregenz - Oslo

Als sich 1995 - mitten im Winter - Bernhard Bechter mit einem Kajak auf den Weg machte, binnen 77 Tagen vom Bodensee nach Oslo zu paddeln, um für den Schutz der Wale einzutreten, ahnte wohl noch niemand, welches Ausmaß diese Aktion erreichen sollte. Nach Vorsprache bei der norwegischen Regierung, machte sich Bechter sogleich auf, den 'Whaletrip' so fortzusetzen, daß er auch von den industriellen Walfangnationen nicht übersehen werden konnte.

When 1995 - in the middle of winter - Bernhard Bechter went to paddle in his kayak from the Lake of Constance to Oslo within 77 days, in order to stand up for the protection of the whales, probably nobody guessed, which extent this campaign was going to reach. After a meeting with the Norwegian government Bechter continued his 'Whaletrip' right away. This way even the whaler nations had no chance to ignore him.
